Arsenal fans fearing the worst as Sanchez is left out the squad for Community Shield

Date Posted,August 5, 2017

Arsenal fans are understandably worried ahead of their Community Shield clash with Chelsea after seeing a key name ousted from their first team.

Arsene Wenger has left both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil out the squad for the match at Wembley, picking Danny Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette in their places.

Ozil has picked up a knock, meaning he was always due to miss the fixture, however Sanchez was expected to start.

But despite not featuring in the first XI, he has not even been named on the bench by the Gunners boss, fuelling speculation he is set to leave.

Sanchez has made his feelings clear all summer that he wants to play in the Champions League, something Arsenal cannot offer him this season.

Wenger has insisted throughout the transfer window that the Chilean, whose contract runs out next summer, will not be leaving north London.

But fans are understandably worried that he has not been included in the first team for the club’s first major game of the season.

And many took to social media to share their panic.

The Gunners, who finished fifth in the Premier League last season, will be hoping to get this campaign off to a flying start.

They struggled at times in the campaign just gone, missing out on a top-four finish, and as a result, Champions League football. But Wenger’s men signed off on a high, beating Sunday’s opposition 2-1 to win the FA Cup and deprive the Blues of the double.
