Date Posted,April 16, 2017

Everton left back Leighton Baines has become the first defender to reach the milestone of 50 Premier League assists.

The former England international achieved the feat after setting up Romelu Lukaku to score in his club sides 3-1 win over Burnley on Saturday .

Baines has been a regular Premier League performer since his debut whilst playing for Wigan back in 2005 and has gone on to make 379 appearances in the division.

The Liverpool-born defender moved to Everton in 2007 and has been ever-present for the Toffees since.

Baines has held the record for number of assists by a defender since 2015, when he overtook Graeme Le Saux with his 45th Premier League assist.

The 32-year-old also boasts a fairly impressive goal record too, having notched 30 times in the Premier League.
