Barcelona ease into Copa del Rey last 16 as Arda Turan scores hat-trick in 7-0 romp over Hercules

Date Posted,December 21, 2016

Barcelona cruised into the last 16 of Copa del Rey with a 7-0 win over Hercules as Arda Turan scored a hat-trick.

Luis Enrique granted Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Gerard Pique some extra time off over Christmas.

But the star names weren’t needed as Barca secured a 8-1 aggregate success.

Hercules picked up an excellent draw in the first leg but there was to be no heroic performance in Catalunya from the third-tier outfit.

Lucas Digne, starting in place of Jordi Alba, opened the scoring for Barca as he poked home after Rafinha’s effort had been blocked.

They doubled their lead from the spot on the stroke of half-time as Ivan Rakitic scored after Turan had been felled.

The tie was beyond Hercules five minutes into the second period as Rafinha fired in from the edge of the box after good work from Turan.

And the Turkish international helped himself to a goal shortly after, heading home from Aleix Vidal’s cross.

Paco Alcacer, who has endured a frustrating time since joining the club, finally scored in a competitive match as he headed in from a matter of yards.

Turan added another two late on as Barca ran riot.
