The club announced that boss Ernesto Valverde had allowed the Brazilian to miss the session on Twitter, suggesting he is all but set to leave.
Neymar had been on a promotional trip in China but flew back to Catalonia on Tuesday in time for training on Wednesday.
He was photographed driving to the club’s training ground moments before Barcelona’s official Twitter account posted: “Neymar is not training with the permission of the coach.”
Paris Saint-Germain have been strongly linked with a move for the 25-year-old throughout this transfer window and are seemingly prepared to pay his £197million release clause.
The deal would eclipse the £89million Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba, making Neymar the most expensive player in football history.
Barcelona fans have been slowly coming to terms with the fact that Neymar – the heir to the Lionel Messi throne – appears to have his heart set on a move to Paris.
And it’s safe to say that many are not particularly pleased with the idea, given the Catalan club’s dominance on the European stage over the past decade.
Many believe they have a good idea as to why the Brazilian is keen on a transfer, given he has as much, if not more, chance of winning silveware at Barcelona.
And they haven’t been shy in voicing their frustration on social media.
