Do you like Lionel Messi ? And do you like amusement parks?
If so, you’re in for a treat, as a group of Chinese firms are coming together to open a Messi-themed theme park in Nanjing.
The Messi Experience Park will consists of more than 20 attractions over a 80,000 sq metre site and is scheduled to open in early 2019.
Virtual and augmented reality technology will give fans football training clinics and display the Barcelona star’s many career highlights.
The man himself launched the venture on a four-day trip to China, saying that he hoped it would increase the number of children taking up the sport.
“I hope to provide them the experience they never had before and to inspire them to pick up the sport early on,” he said.
“Hopefully, they will feel that I am around when visiting the park.”
The backers of the park claim it will offer: “The most cutting-edge technology, enabling visitors to immerse themselves in all things Messi by combining the latest-generation attractions with the very best advances in content and multimedia attractions.”
During the launch Messi was also quizzed on new Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde who was confirmed as Luis Enrique’s successor earlier this week.
“Of course we know his past experiences, but we have never had direct exchanges and talks,” said the Argentine.
“When I get to know the coach better and his working style, our goal is always the same which is to have more achievements and to win more titles.”
