Date Posted,July 6, 2017

Rafael Benitez remains keen to sign Greek international Andreas Samaris for Newcastle .

But promoted Toon do not have a vast transfer budget this summer after investing heavily to get out of the Championship.

And MirrorSport understands Benitez is having to juggle his resources to finance the £17.5million capture.

Newcastle officials have held talks with Samaris’s club Benfica about a deal.

The defensive midfielder has two years left on his contract in Portugal but is keen on a switch to England.

Samaris, 28, moved to Benfica in 2014 and has won the title with them the last three years after joining from Olympiacos for £8.8million.
