Borussia Dortmund vs Monaco rescheduled for Wednesday after team bus explosions

Date Posted,April 10, 2017

The Champions League quarter-final between Borussia Dortmund and Monaco has been postponed after an ‘explosion’ involving the Bundesliga side’s team bus.

The game will be replayed tomorrow at 18:45 local time (17:45 GMT), Dortmund have confirmed, with tickets remaining valid.

An explosion took place near the vehicle ahead of the encounter at the Westfalenstadion.

German newspaper Bild reports defender Marc Bartra was the individual injured after the incident and has been taken to hospital, where his injuries are thought to be ‘superficial.’

Bartra is ‘OK’ but ‘in a state of shock,’ report Spanish newspaper Sport, with the player reportedly suffering from cuts to his hands.

The player was accompanied to the hospital by teammate and compatriot Mikel Merino.

The incident reportedly took place around six miles away from the Westfalenstadion in Hochsten, as the team left their hotel.

Bild also report a device was planted on the street, which exploded and shattered windows on the bus.

Dortmund have urged fans to remain calm and have confirmed updates will follow.
