Gianluigi Buffon has admitted that Barcelona’s famous comeback against PSG last month is on his players’ minds.
The Juventus keeper kept a clean sheet in Turin as the Italian side piled up a 3-0 advantage to take to Spain on Wednesday night.
Buffon knows his visitors are favourites to reach the semis of a competition the 39-year-old has never won but is aware of Barcelona’s firepower.
Buffon said: “We are not fearful – but yes I think Barcelona’s comeback against PSG is in the mind of the players.
“I thought I had seen everything in football, but then you see something like that and it makes you think no game is over until it is over.
“We have put ourselves in a fantastic position after the first game – but it useful to remind ourselves of the PSG game, what Barcelona are capable of, and that we must not stop fighting up until the final minute of the game.
“It is no disrespect to Barcelona’s others players who are all of exceptional quality, but we know what the Messi, Suarez, Neymar trio is capable of – that is why they are always capable of big results.
“I have had a very successful career and I don’t think of the Champions League as the trophy that evades me but of course it is still a trophy I want to win.
“We are just taking things one game at a time but there is confidence we can be successful this year.”
