Buffon to give himself “one more chance” to win the Champions League with Juve

Date Posted,June 4, 2017

Gianluigi Buffon will give himself “one more chance” of winning the Champions League.

Juventus legend Buffon, 39, suffered defeat in the final for a third time after losing to Real Madrid in Cardiff but he is determined not to give up.

Buffon said: “I still have one more year on my contract, so that means I have one more chance of winning the Champions League.

“Admittedly, it’ll be tough to do better than this year, because we could’ve done something truly incredible this season. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage it.”

Buffon would go down as one of the greats never to lift the Champions League, having already hinted that he could retire after after the World Cup in 2018.

The Italy keeper added: “It’s a big disappointment because we thought we did everything we needed to win.

“We had a great first half in which we had Real in trouble. It leaves you with an open mouth, the episodes that never went our way. I cannot explain why we played like we did in the second half.”
