Celtic could play Northern Irish side Linfield – who are managed by ex-Rangers striker – in Champions League

Date Posted,June 18, 2017

Celtic will take on Linfield or SP La Fiorita in the Champions League second qualifying round.

The Scottish champions must overcome three qualifying rounds to join Europe’s elite in the group stage.

And first up could be the Northern Ireland side who are managed by former Rangers striker David Healy.

They will be favourites to overcome the San Marino minnows when they meet in the first qualifying round.

The first leg will be played on either July 12/13 with the second leg following a week later.

July 12 is known as Orangeman’s Day and is a celebration of Protestant king William of Orange’s victory over Catholic king James II at the Battle of Boyne in 1690.

Parades are held throughout Belfast and the addition of this fixture would heighten tensions in the capital.

Brendan Rodgers’ side won the treble in Scotland last season, and were unbeaten in the league.
