The Monaco 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in this transfer window, with Chelsea hoping to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho has reportedly cooled his interest in the France international, instead seeking Premier League-proven players, according to the MEN.
But it seems Bakayoko may favour the idea of moving to Old Trafford over Chelsea, if his tweet is to be taken into consideration.
The post appeared on social media, where it was picked up on by United fans, and saw the Frenchman responding to some transfer gossip.
The story he was apparently reacting to suggested he could soon be the Red Devils’ latest recruit following their £75million move for Romelu Lukaku.
Chelsea will be keen to prevent recent history from repeating itself by getting the transfer for the 22-year-old over the line.
Antonio Conte’s men had been heavily linked with a move for Lukaku, and were apparently set to sign him pending Diego Costa’s move away.
However, Mourinho signed the Belgian from under their nose, and proudly paraded him on the training ground in LA on Monday.
Bakayoko was a stand out player for Monaco in their brilliant Champions League campaign last season, where he caught the eye of Premier League managers.
Red Devils favourite Rio Ferdinand wasn’t entirely convinced however, after watching him in action in Monaco’s 2-0 defeat to Juventus in the semi-final of Europe’s elite competition.
He told BT Sport at the time: “I think Bakayoko today, we found a bit more about him.
“He’s had a lot of hype, he’s had a lot of news articles about him coming to the Premier League to all the top teams. I don’t know if he is ready to make that big step yet.”
