Costa vows to make amends for Palace shock by ending Man City’s title hopes

Date Posted,April 3, 2017

Chelsea striker Diego Costa is praying his team-mates will bounce straight back against Manchester City on Wednesday and says they cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves.

The Premier League leaders are recovering from a shock home defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday which cut their lead at the top of the table to just seven points.

It was Chelsea’s first defeat at Stamford Bridge since September and with Tottenham winning away at Burnley, the title race has now become wide open once again.

Costa says the Blues cannot afford to panic ahead of another huge home with title rivals Manchester City and says they can end their hopes of winning the league with a big victory on Wednesday night.

Costa, speaking on ESPN Brazil, said: “Now is not the time to let ourselves down. We should keep our heads up and think ahead for the next game since it will be very important.

“A derby (against a big team) will always be an important game. After a loss at home and with a rival closing the gap this importance only grows.
