Courtois rallies Chelsea after Palace defeat – “We just need to focus”

Date Posted,April 2, 2017

Thibaut Courtois has warned Spurs not to get their hopes up of reeling in Chelsea following their shock defeat to Crystal Palace.

Victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s men at Burnley reduced the gap at the top to just seven points. They now go to Swansea while Chelsea host Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Blues Keeper Courtois said: “It’s important to win on Wednesday.

“Spurs will be hoping we lose again so they can close the gap to four points, but we will start working again.

“We know what we are doing, we don’t need to think about losing again, we just need to focus and try to win the game on Wednesday.”

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte insisted his players will remain focused on themselves and admitted it will not be easy for his men to regroup against a tough City side.

“I think its another game.” said the Italian. “I don’t know if they are the perfect team for us. I know Manchester City started the season wanting to win the title. They have a really strong squad.

“But I think its right to think about ourselves. To go game by game. In England every game is very tough, whether the name of your opponent is City or any other team.”
