England squad revealed: Southgate names two new faces for World Cup qualifiers

The England squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia has been revealed.

Gareth Southgate has selected his party of 28 players for the trip to Malta on September 1 and the match against Slovakia against Wembley on September 4.

Wayne Rooney will not be part of the squad, despite Southgate trying to recall him, with the Three Lions record scorer calling time on his international career.

England are in a strong position to qualify for the tournament in Russia next summer, currently sitting two points clear at the top of Group F.
