England U21 vs Poland U21 LIVE: Gray replaces Abraham for Young Lions

Date Posted,June 21, 2017

Abraham tipped to make impact

Tammy Abraham has been backed to make an impact in the Premier League next season as he prepares to move to Swansea on loan, writes Simon Bird in Kielce.

Striker Abraham will lead the line for England Under-21s against Poland in a must-win Euros group game on Thursday, after choosing to head to Paul Clement’s Welshmen on loan from champions Chelsea .

U21 boss Aidy Boothroyd says Abraham, who was also wanted by promoted sides Brighton and Newcastle after shining on loan to Bristol City in the Championship last season, has all the tools to be a hit after earning his chance in the top flight.

Boothroyd, who wants 19-year-old Abraham to open his account for this tournament in this final group match against the host nation, said: “His all-round play has been really good.

“He is honest and genuine. You have to drag him off the training ground — he is so enthusiastic, he claps himself when he wins a corner. He is a genuinely good guy.”
