Mesut Ozil‘s future continues to remain a topic of discussion but before any progress can be made, the German has been holidaying in Los Angeles.
Ozil and friends were spotted in West Hollywood attending Japanese seafood restaurant Matsuhisa, run by acclaimed chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
The Arsenal midfielder starred in the shock FA Cup win over Chelsea to put a shine on the season after missing out on Champions League football.
The 28-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract, like Alexis Sanchez, and while Arsene Wenger’s future is the immediate priority, the Gunners will be desperate for the star duo to stay.
While the Chilean has plenty of offers to exit the Emirates, Ozil is not receiving as much attention.
New deals worth a reported £260,000-per-week are being readied, but Ozil has been rumoured to be eyeing up a free transfer in 2018 when he will be 29 years of age.
Ozil will enjoy a summer off to reflect on his future though, as Germany have omitted him from their Confederations Cup squad.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain praised Ozil as ‘the coolest guy’ and added that he regularly offers his team-mates free holidays.
“Mes is like the silent assassin, he goes about his business quietly,” Chamberlain told Arsenal Player. “If you want to engage in a bit of banter with Mesut, he is up for it, but if you don’t he’s not bothered.
“He will just go through his game, leave training, live the life at home and then come back to training [the next day].
“He’s the coolest guy ever, he’s one of those guys who will have a spare flight somewhere and will say: ‘Do you want to come on holiday with me? I’ve got you’. You’re like: ‘Yeah, I’d love to’ – and off he takes you.”
