Barcelona star Lionel Messi made an incredible charity donation following his wedding, gifting all the ceremony’s leftover food and drinks to a local food bank.
The 30-year-old married long-term girlfriend Antonella Roccuzzo at the luxury City Center Rosario complex in his birth town of Rosario, Argentina.
Some of football’s biggest stars attended the wedding, including the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Carles Puyol, Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Aguero.
The incredible venue, which has a convention centre, contains a casino, spa, swimming pool, restaurants and an abundance of sporting facilities.
Following the ceremony, Messi and his bride danced the night away at a wild after party.
But with plenty of food and drink leftover the next day, the five-time Ballon d’Or was eager to make sure it didn’t go to waste, according to Rosario Food Bank director Pablo Algrain.
Algrain told Efe: “It all arrived to the store and we’re controlling it. We don’t yet know quite how much there is.
“We explained to the wedding organisers that we can accept soft drinks and snacks, but that we’d have to change alcoholic drinks for money because we cannot accept them.”
Messi is currently enjoying his honeymoon and celebrating the four-year contract extension he agreed earlier this week.
