Hazard reveals there is “no sign” of new Chelsea deal as Real Madrid interest continues

Date Posted,April 24, 2017

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has revealed talk of a new deal is premature.

The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid after another stunning season.

Hazard came off the bench to inspire Chelsea’s FA Cup victory over Tottenham on Saturday and has played a starring role in their Premier League campaign.

Reports suggested Chelsea had offered Hazard a new £300,000-a-week deal but Hazard has revealed that is not the case.

“There is no sign of a new contract for the moment. I am focused on the last month, and we will talk later,” he told Sky Sports

“It’s not in my mind now. I have two or three years left. I just want to finish the season well and we will see afterwards.”

Hazard also insisted he does not want to replace John Terry as Blues’ captain.

The Stamford Bridge stalwart will depart at the end of the season, ending a 22-year association with the club.

Antonio Conte will make a decision over who inherits the armband with Gary Cahill having led the Premier League leaders out this term.

Cesar Azpilicueta captained Chelsea against Tottenham on Saturday while Hazard has also been mooted as a possible replacement.

But despite wearing the armband on the international stage, the Belgian has no plans to do so for his club.

“I think we have some players who can be more than a captain in this team,” he added.
