The Italian left both Diego Costa and Hazard out of the Blues starting XI on Saturday.
It was a move that baffled fans, but one that was immediately justified when Willian put Chelsea 1-0 up after just five minutes.
The Brazilian also restored Chelsea’s lead just before half-time, expertly dispatching from the penalty spot.
At 2-2, Conte brought on both Hazard and Costa after 60 minutes. The Belgian scored 14 minutes later to put Chelsea ahead for a third time.
A wonder strike from Nemanja Matic five minutes later and the game was all but over.
Speaking to BBC One after the game, Hazard said he held no hard feelings towards Conte and felt the Blues boss made a ‘great decision’.
“The manager told me yesterday,” he said. “You know you have to expect everything in football. When you play football you want to play every game, but I think he did a great choice.
“He put in Willian, Willian scored the two first goals so it’s good for us.”
