Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera will reject the chance to link up with his former boss Ernesto Valverde who looks set to be appointed the next head coach at Barcelona.

Herrera continues to be linked with a return to Spain following his impressive displays at the heart of the United midfield.

The Spanish midfielder was one of the star performers for Jose Mourinho’s side last season and played a key role in helping them win the Europa League which secured their place back in the Champions League.

Herrera was voted United’s player of the season and is believed to be a major contender to take over the captain’s armband from Way

His performances have not gone unnoticed and is believed to be on the radar of Valverde who worked alongside the 27-year-old when they were together at Athletic Bilbao.

But according to the Times, it is understood that Herrera will turn down any advances from Barcelona and has no interest in leaving Manchester United during the summer.

In fact United fans could be in for a major boost as the club are expected to begin talks over a new deal as Herrera only has a year left on his existing contract.
