He’s in the game! Ronaldo is officially named FIFA 18 global cover star

Date Posted,June 4, 2017

Cristiano Ronaldo will feature on the front cover of FIFA 18, it has been confirmed.

The Portuguese said it was a “real pleasure” being picked by EA Sports following a sensational season in Real Madrid white.

Ronaldo helped his side win their first La Liga title since 2012 before bagging a brace in the Champions League final.

Real’s 4-1 win over Juventus in Cardiff saw the 32-year-old lift his fourth Champions League trophy, and he is now favourite to win a fifth Ballon d’Or.

EA Sports confirmed the news on Monday that Ronaldo would take the coveted front cover spot on their brand new game, set to be released on September 29.

Aaron McHardy, Senior Producer for the company said: “The world’s best player has helped fuel the biggest leap forward on the pitch that we’ve ever delivered.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Cristiano – working with him we learned a lot about his unique play style and what makes him so special. His passion, energy and global fanbase make him the perfect ambassador for FIFA 18.”

Upon being named the cover star, the Portuguese said: “It is a real pleasure to be on the cover of FIFA 18. It’s a great feeling and I am grateful to have been chosen.”

Ronaldo, who has never been pictured on the cover before, follows a long line of stars who have previously featured.

His rival Lionel Messi took pride of place from 2013 to 2016 when he was featured alongside players including Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale.

Last year Dortmund star Marco Reus was pictured on the box.
