Klopp slams England schedule after Lallana injury – “it makes no sense”

Date Posted,March 30, 2017

Jurgen Klopp has questioned England’s decision to face Germany during the international break.

The Liverpool boss has lost Adam Lallana to a thigh injury, with the midfielder set to be out for around a month.

Lallana played in the Three Lions defeat to Germany just three days after Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City – and then completed 90 minutes in the World Cup qualifying win over Lithuania.

Gareth Southgate has spoken to Klopp over the injury to Lallana and the Reds boss insists he has no issue with the England chief.

However he is not convinced by the scheduling of international friendlies at such a key stage of the season.

“Whoever thought it was a good idea to play Manchester City and Liverpool on a Sunday night and then Germany against England on the Wednesday – it makes no sense,” he told Sky Sports.

“We all have to start to work much better together: the FA, Premier League, television and the clubs because we’re trying to sell the best product.

“City and Liverpool was one of the most intense games in the league. So you can’t have the highlight games like that then Germany against England and this and that.
