Lallana’s return is imminent and Henderson could also be back shortly

Jurgen Klopp has slammed the door shut on any Anfield bolt hole for Joe Hart.

The England keeper is desperate to make a return to the Premier League next season, and has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool throughout the current campaign.

But the Reds boss moved swiftly yesterday to totally shoot down stories suggesting he will offer a channel back to English football for the Manchester City star, as he looks to navigate out of the backwaters of Torino where he is currently on loan.

Speaking at his press conference, Klopp even broke his golden rule to make a specific point of saying Hart would not be joining the club.

Asked about the goalkeeping situation, he replied: “You ask about goalkeepers but even though you don’t say the name is it about Joe Hart?!” he joked.

“We don’t usually talk about these sort of things but in this particular case I think we can. He is a fantastic goalkeeper, the goalkeeper of the English national team, highest quality but we have highest-quality goalkeepers.

“It is not for us in this moment and hopefully not for us in the future – not because of Joe but we already have two strong goalkeepers.

Wardy (Danny Ward) is at Huddersfield and playing a brilliant season – he is our player so we will bring him back next year so there is competition.

The young ones have made really big steps, Caiomhin (Kelleher) and Kamil (Grabara), and that is really good. The situation with our goalkeepers is really good. I understand the question but I cannot give the answer probably a few people want but we think about it all the time.”

Klopp revealed that Adam Lallana has returned to training and is on course to play first team football next week, but he admitted skipper Jordan Henderson is still out with no comeback date.

The Liverpool manager though, said it is too early to rule the midfielder out for the rest of the season, despite his continuing foot problems.

Asked if Henderson could be back for the final few games, he said: “I don’t know. We will have to see. In this moment he cannot really train so we have to wait for this moment when he can,” he said.

“That was always the plan from the beginning with the medical department. We have to wait. He is not patient anymore, I can tell you that. He looks really healthy but nothing has changed.”
