Let’s get the party started! Klopp fired up for New Year’s Eve clash with title rivals

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool ’s showdown with Manchester City is the perfect way to kick off the New Year Eve celebrations.

Klopp hailed Liverpool’s Anfield clash with City – the last Premier League game of 2016 – as the game everyone wants to see, before the parties begin.

Second-placed Liverpool host third-placed City in a game neither can afford to lose if they are serious about catching current leaders Chelsea.

“I know people are excited when they think about it,” said Klopp. “There’s nothing to do except prepare the party for afterwards while everyone watches the television.

“The good news is we are involved. It’s not City versus someone else, it’s Liverpool against Manchester City.

“We’re some kind of a challenger. We don’t care about being favourite, it feels like we’re challenging in each game and now we have to make the people happy again. It’s possible.”
