Liverpool chief Moore gives update on Aubameyang transfer

Date Posted,June 22, 2017

Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore has given fans a humorous update on transfer target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international has been heavily linked with the Reds having worked with boss Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Aubameyang has a £60m price tag stuck on him – with Liverpool pondering a move.

And Moore has hit back to the rumours in comical style.

A Reds fan asked Moore about the possibility of signing the in-demand Gabon international on Twitter on Friday, and the Reds CEO offered a tongue-in-cheek response.

Reds fans Grant Portman tweeted: “@PeterMooreLFC if Aubameyang is available for £63m as reported (and would come) please get him! You would recoup most of the money in shirts”.

Given the lengthy name of the 28-year-old, Moore saw an opportunity for a wisecrack, whilst keeping his powder dry on reported links.

“All the profits would disappear with the cost of lettering the shirts…” he responded.

Elsewhere on a lively afternoon for the Garston-born former EA Sports chief, he was basking in the glow of landing Mohamed Salah from Roma.

The Reds shelled out £34.3m to land the Egypt international from the Serie A side on Thursday, and Moore is delighted with the big-money capture.

“View from my office as we get Mohamed’s plane ready to take him back home #theregoestherestofthebudget” he posted on the site.

Moore also reached for the mute button after one Twitter user suggested the Reds chief didn’t know who transfer targets Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk were.
