Liverpool fans troll Firmino’s picture of him and Coutinho in Brazil

Date Posted,August 30, 2017

Roberto Firmino felt the wrath of the Liverpool fans on behalf of Philippe Coutinho when he posted an image of the pair to social media.

The Reds forward took to Instagram to upload a picture from a Brazil training session ahead of their World Cup Qualifier with Ecuador on Friday.

The image shows Firmino on the ball with a big smile on his face while Coutinho stands behind him, slightly out of focus.

Firmino, who is undoubtedly a fan favourite at Anfield, was obviously hoping to unite Liverpool supporters with a snap of the Reds players in action.

But the image had the opposite effect as Liverpool supporters, worried the midfielder might still leave Merseyside, took to calling the Brazilian a “snake”.

Coutinho made it very clear early on in the transfer window that he wanted to leave Liverpool for La Liga giants Barcelona, and even handed in a transfer request.

However, the Reds made it equally clear that he would not be going anywhere, and snubbed three big bids for the Brazilian.

Barcelona could come back with a final offer on Deadline Day, and it is unclear whether the Reds would change their stance.

So far they’ve remained adamant the star will not be leaving this summer, but they’ve since managed to complete deals for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita – the latter is set to join next season.

The club has also been linked with a move for Monaco star Thomas Lemar, which, if completed, could pave the way for Coutinho to leave for Barcelona.
