Manchester United have confirmed Juan Mata has undergone groin surgery and is set for a spell on the sidelines.
The midfielder did not check in with the rest of the United squad at the Lowry Hotel ahead of tomorrow’s game with West Brom.
United have since confirmed Mata, 28, has gone under the knife and is out indefinitely, adding to boss Jose Mourinho’s injury woes.
United released a statement, which said: “Juan Mata has had surgery for a groin injury, further updates on his recovery will follow in due course.”
Mourinho is without Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera are both suspended for Saturday’s game.
