Manchester United will be party poopers in Stockholm if they win the Europa League Final against Ajax on Wednesday.
For Jose Mourinho and his squad plan to fly STRAIGHT back to Manchester in the early hours of the morning after the game.
And that will break with past tradition of after-match party’s which followed both their previous Champions League triumphs in Moscow and Barcelona.
United held a party which ran until breakfast time at the Hotel Arts in Barcelona following their dramatic Champions League win over Bayern Munich in the Nou Camp which completed the famous 1999 Treble success.
And Sir Alex Ferguson and his stars partied hard again in Russia after their penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
This time, though, there will be no late-night party in Stockholm – and that’s left players and their families disappointed.
Instead, win or lose, Mourinho and his squad will be bussed back to Arlanda Airport for the 2hour 30 minute flight home.
Said a United source: “Some of the players are a bit surprised.
“They thought they might be staying over and flying back the next day especially as it is a final and they have no more competitive matches.
“Players only got three or four tickets for family and friends and normally they would have looked forward to seeing them at a party after the game if they’d won.
“But it’s been decided they are coming back after the game so there will be no party in Stockholm. For the fans perhaps – but not the players.”
