Late goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba handed United a deserved victory over a stubborn ‘Boro side, who had taken a second-half lead through Grant Leadbitter’s smart finish.
Manchester United had earlier seen a goal disallowed, much to the displeasure of the home fans, while they also struck the woodwork twice.
“My players were phenomenal,” Mourinho told BBC. “We managed to do something I love – bring the fans to the pitch. The last 15 minutes, there were 70,000 on the pitch against 11.
“I am happy with the way we played. We hit the post, we scored a fantastic goal, we were dominate, stopped our opponents playing. It’s a very good feeling, as I was expecting.
“[But] I don’t feel the same happiness because my brother is on the other side. Aitor Karanka did his job amazing. I feel for my brother and his players because they gave everything.”
Mourinho also hit out at the agent of Anthony Martial, after the Frenchman’s man of the match display.
Martial terrorised Calum Chambers, and duly deserved his equaliser after a terrific showing.
However the young forward has recently been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in January – much to the ire of the United boss.
“Anthony [Martial] has to listen to me and not his agent. He has to listen to me in training.
“Every day I read the newspapers – Martial has to listen to me. He is a player with amazing conditions to be a top player.”
