Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has hinted at staying the Emirates by talking up the club’s pre-season tour to Australia.
The German’s future has been uncertain with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.
He is still to agree fresh terms with the Gunners but cooled talk of a potential summer switch away from Arsenal by speaking about how excited he is about travelling Down Under.
“I hear Sydney is a nice city with a lot of nice people living there,” he told Arsenal Player.
“I don’t know a lot about Australia but this is a good opportunity to see the city, the people and I’m really happy to go there with Arsenal.
“It is really good to have pre-season with the team, in my career it has always been like that.
“If you play at a big tournament, especially with Germany, you really miss pre-season.
“Two years ago we went to Singapore and it was a nice experience to see the city and the fans, and to train how we do in Sydney.
“So I am excited to do the same in Australia. I can’t wait to go there.”
