Ozil hints he wants to stay at Arsenal as he talks about Sanchez’s situation

Date Posted,July 11, 2017

Mesut Ozil has dropped his clearest hint that he wants to stay at Arsenal.

Germany midfielder Ozil has been locked in a contract stalemate as he is demanding £350,000-a-week to stay as he has only 12 months left on his current deal.

But Ozil insists it is still his “preference” to stay at Arsenal which would be a major boost as they are also in a similar situation with Alexis Sanchez.

Ozil said: “It is definitely my preference to stay, it is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.

“Once everyone is back in London we will sit down and discuss about the future.

For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness. When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss.”

Ozil insists he has not spoken to Sanchez who could quit if he does not sign a new deal with Manchester City hoping to get him this summer.

He added: “I was on vacation and did not think about anyone else. I tried to clear my mind for myself. Obviously the player (Sanchez) has to think about his own future and that will be his own decision. It is something everyone has to respect.”
