Paul Pogba joked that he was “angry” with Antoine Griezmann after his France team-mate pledged his commitment to Atletico Madrid.
Manchester United cooled their interest in Griezmann before the 26-year-old posted on Instagram with the caption: “Now more than ever. Atleti. All together.”
Pogba, who used the social media site to tease United fans ahead of his move last summer, later uploaded a picture himself alongside Griezmann in international training, report the Manchester Evening News.
“Always have my guy, angry mode, ready for tomorrow. The face tho.” France host Paraguay in a friendly in Lorient on Friday evening.
The apparent end to the Griezmann saga on Thursday morning marked a drastic about turn mere hours after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the transfer ban Fifa had imposed on Atletico.
That move seemed to increase the likelihood of a departure to United, since Griezmann had an €100million release clause inserted into his contract last year.
However, it then emerged United had all but ended their interest in the former Real Sociedad attacker and could now turn their attention to Torino’s Andrea Belotti, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku or Real Madrid reserve Alvaro Morata.
Only last week Griezmann appeared on French TV show Quotidien on Monday night and was directly asked about the possibility of joining United.
“My future will be decided within two weeks,” Griezmann said. When presenter Yann Barthès asked Griezmann to rate the chances on a scale of one to 10, Griezmann replied: “Six.”
United earmarked Griezmann as their attacking priority in September and worked on a deal to sign the 26-year-old for almost a year but have instead decided to prioritise an out-and-out striker in the summer transfer window.
