Ranieri insists Leicester won’t be selling Schmeichel in January

Date Posted,December 28, 2016

Claudio Ranieri insists there is no chance Kasper Schmeichel will be sold by Leicester next month.

The Foxes’ shot-stopper kept 15 Premier League clean sheets last term en-route to the club’s amazing title triumph.

The Danish international penned a new lucrative five-year deal worth £100,000-a-week in the summer.

But second-placed Liverpool have been linked with a January move after newboy Loris Karius was axed after struggling.

Yet City boss Ranieri responded yesterday: “Kasper has our signature on the contract – we don’t sell Kasper.

“There is no chance, we don’t need money.

“I am sorry, Liverpool, they can win the title without Kasper.”

Leicester are preparing for a busy January with Genk midfielder Wilfred Ndidi set to complete a £15million move pending a work permit.

The Foxes are also believed to be chasing Italian centre-back Francesco Acerbi,28, who plays for Sassuolo.

But some squad men can go like Jeff Schlupp, who is likely to be sold to West Brom and Leonardo Ulloa, who is wanted by Sunderland and Swansea.

Midfielder Matty James is set to be made available for a loan move with Aston Villa interested.
