Real Madrid’s new set piece specialist after youngster scores 22 in sensational season

Date Posted,June 29, 2017

Real Madrid may have just uncovered the young man to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo on free-kick duty… and he plays within their own ranks.

Oscar Rodriguez is Los Blancos’ U19s captain and last season the youngster emerged as something of set-piece specialist.

The midfielder notched an impressive 22 goals last term under manager and club legend Guti.

16 league goals, one Youth League goal, two Copa de Campeones goals and three Copa del Rey goals helped lead the U19s to an impressive treble.

Proud of their 19-year-old midfielder, Real Madrid uploaded a 45 second montage of Oscar’s free-kicks from their title winning campaign (view above).

Unlike Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, the young Spaniard adopts a more David Beckham-esque approach to his strikes.

All of Oscar’s free-kicks are similar to the former Real star’s style of whipping the ball up and over the wall, usually into the top corner.

Ronaldo only scored three free-kick goals last season and, should he stay, may find himself looking over his shoulder on set-pieces.
