Ronaldo returns to training – after announcing he wants to leave for England

Date Posted,August 5, 2017

Cristiano Ronaldo was back training alongside his Real Madrid teammates on Saturday amid speculation surrounding his future at the club.

The Portuguese was an instrumental part in Los Blancos’ double-winning campaign last season, leading them to Champions League and La Liga success.

He was granted an extended break following his summer representing Portugal in the Confederations Cup but linked back up with the squad ahead of the Super Cup final against his former club Manchester United on Tuesday.

Real Madrid took to Twitter to point out their star man had returned, tweeting a picture of him on the training ground alongside the caption: “Ronaldo is back with the team!”

The picture emerged following the Portuguese telling the Spanish court he wants to leave the country and return to England.

The 32-year-old, who is currently embroiled in a tax fraud case, told the courts: “In England, I never had these problems, that’s why I want to go back there.

“I always paid my taxes, always. In England and In Spain. And I always paid. As you know, I can not hide anything, it would be ridiculous on my part to do such a thing.

“I am an open book. you don’t need to do anything but type my name into Google and everything about Cristiano comes out.

“For example, Forbes magazine releases all of my earnings.”

He added: “I paid everything in 2014. I don’t understand anything about this, I only went to school until my sixth year and the only thing I know how to do is play football well. When my advisors tell me, ‘Cris, it’s okay’ then I believe them.”
