Cristiano Ronaldo can’t keep out the news at the moment.
The bombshell was then dropped that he may be looking for a move out of Spain after being accused of tax fraud, a claim he denies.
And speculation on his future has well and truly snowballed from there.
Ronaldo was therefore probably looking forward to the Confederations Cup as it provides a break from the politics associated with his domestic club.
Not only does he get to meet up with his national teammates, he gets to depart Spain for a short while and clear his head a bit, right?
Well, apparently not, according to Jose Fonte.
The West Ham defender was recently discussing his Portugal teammates ahead of their game against Mexico at the Kazan Arena on Sunday.
In his column on the Hammers’ website, Fonte revealed that the national team is full of “jokers”, and it seems Ronaldo is finding himself on the end of their puns.
“We are obviously used to spending time together away at tournaments, and it helps that we have a great bunch of lads and are all very close,” said Fonte.
“There are a lot of jokers and it is a great atmosphere.
“Cristiano Ronaldo got a little bit of stick when he arrived with his new haircut, especially from Ricardo Quaresma.”
The Portuguese forward cut his hair following Real’s success in the Champions League.
At the time he told Real Madrid TV: “It was a promise. I’d promised that, if we won the Champions League and I scored a goal, I’d do it. I did it and I shaved myself.”
