Rooney takes holiday (with new pals he met on the plane) as he ponders future

Date Posted,June 9, 2017

Wayne Rooney has jetted away on another summer holiday with wife Coleen as he looks to put his England exile behind him and has made some new friends in the process.

The Manchester United star suffered the disappointment of being left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the big games against Scotland and France.

After flying to Barbados with his family, Rooney returned to England to play in Michael Carrick’s testimonial last Sunday in what could be his final ever game at Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old has wasted no time getting back on the plane as he makes a big decision over his future with reports suggesting he will leave United during the summer.

Rooney certainly looked relaxed as he posted a picture on social media and appears to have struck up a holiday friendship after making friends with another couple on the flight to Greece.

Mike Edwards could not believe his luck when he started talking with the England superstar and it seems they have a lot in common as Rooney invited Mike and his colleague Holly Meehan out for dinner.

Rooney was quick to post about his new friends on his Twitter site when he said: ‘Met on the plane now out for dinner. Great company.’

The prolific forward now has a major decision to make on his future as he still has one more year on his current deal at Old Trafford but wants regular first-team football.

With Jose Mourinho being strongly linked with moves for Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morato, Rooney will know his chances of playing could be even more limited.

Everton continue to be linked with a move for their former striker while former United legend Mark Hughes is also considering a move to bring him to Stoke during the summer.
