Sanchez notches assist on return to action for Chile in Russia draw

Date Posted,June 8, 2017

Alexis Sanchez returned to action for the first time since Arsenal’s FA Cup final triumph against Chelsea as Chile drew 1-1 with Russia in a friendly on Friday evening.

The Gunners forward came off the bench to set up Mauricio Isla for the opener in Moscow, but Russia hit back through Viktor Vasin to snatch a share of the spoils.

Sanchez’s future remains up in the air with just one year remaining on his Emirates contract.

He is currently preparing for the Confederations Cup with his country, and insists he will leave negotiations over his future to his agent.

“I’m looking at what my agent is doing,” he told Cooperativa. “For now, I’m focused on the [Confederations] Cup in Russia and trying to do well.

“The truth is that my agent will see to it. He knows and he will sit down with the club to look for the best option for me.

“I’d like a lot of things but I’m only thinking about the national team.”

Chile have a further friendly against Romania next week before beginning their Confederations Cup campaign against Cameroon on June 18.
