Sevilla want Pochettino if Sampaoli leaves to become Argentina boss

Date Posted,April 17, 2017

Sevilla will try to lure Mauricio Pochettino if current boss Jorge Sampaoli becomes the new Argentina coach.

Tottenham boss Pochettino has become one of Europe’s most sought after managers after his impressive job at White Hart Lane.

It would seem highly unlikely they could attract Pochettino, who is committed to a long term deal and is leading Spurs to a title charge.

Ex-Argentina defender Pochettino may go back to Spain in the future in his managerial career but is likely to have his sights set even higher.

Sampaoli looks set to leave to take over Argentina with Sevilla insisting they will try to block his departure.

The 57-year-old was linked with the Barcelona hot seat earlier this year but that speculation has cooled following Sevilla’s Champions League exit to Leicester and their run of indifferent form in La Liga.

Sevilla were harbouring title ambitions at the start of March but they have won just one of their last five league games and now sit fourth in the table.
