Spurs boss Pochettino rules out ever managing Barcelona for one simple reason

Date Posted,March 29, 2017

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out ever managing Barcelona, simply because he is a fan of rival club Espanyol.

The Tottenham manager was asked to comment on speculation linking him to the post, which is set to be vacant when Luis Enrique leaves in the summer.

The possibility of a move to the Catalan was strengthened when Pochettino was spotted talking to the Barcelona president during the international break.

But the Spurs boss claimed there was no chance he would ever take the reins at Barcelona, for the same reason he would never take them at Arsenal.

“I am an Espanyol fan. I think then I do not need to speak too much,” said Pochettino.

“It is like one day if Daniel Levy sacks me in a few years, for me it would be impossible to manage Arsenal.”

The Argentine added: “In football, it’s hard to keep loyal with your heart and emotion but I believe that before being a manager or a player, you should be loyal.

“I love Espanyol and now Tottenham. It would be impossible to one day move to Arsenal.”

Spurs, who are in contention to finish in the top four, will travel to Turf Moor on Saturday to take on Burnley.
