The Bulgarian organised the match against Luis Figo’s XI for charity.
The 36-year-old free agent drafted in the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville to play in his team.
Figo, meanwhile, recruited Roberto Carlos, Robert Pires, Deco, David Trezeguet, Christian Karembeu, Dwight Yorke and Michel Salgado for a star-studded line up.
The game finished 3-3 with Robbie Keane bagging a brace for United. But it was Trezeguet who stole the show when he opened up the game’s scoring inside four minutes with a wonder volley.
The Frenchman ran on to a deep cross and smashed the ball on the volley past a helpless David James.
Speaking before the game at The Vasil Levski National Stadium, Berbatov said: “It will be the first time Bulgaria has seen so many huge stars in one place, brought together by the cause of charity.
“Together with them and with you who will come to the stadium, we will contribute to the better tomorrow.”
