Date Posted,April 21, 2017

Manchester United will offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic their full medical support in his year-long fight to save his career.

The Swedish striker is expected to be sidelined for at least nine months after rupturing knee ligaments in Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Anderlecht.

United will now withdraw their offer to trigger an extra one-year contract.

But while Ibra has played his final game for the club – despite a season which has seen him score 28 goals – United feel the have a duty of care to oversee his rehabilitation.

United have promised the 35-year-old that he will receive the best possible treatment until his contact expires in the summer.

And they are also ready to monitor his full recovery.

A source said: “Zlatan will be given the club’s support throughout his rehabilitation.

“If that means helping him beyond the final few months of his contract then that will happen.”
