Wenger admits Arsenal “don’t defend well enough” as he explains woeful recent form

Date Posted,March 30, 2017

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal’s problems have come from their inability to defend.

The Gunners have lost four of their last five Premier League matches and are now sixth in the table.

They go into this weekend’s clash with Manchester City six points adrift of the top four and another defeat will virtually rule them out of Champions League qualification.

Before the international break they were beaten 3-1 by West Brom with their defensive frailties exposed once again.

And Wenger admits his side are currently not doing enough defensively.

“What’s gone wrong? We don’t defend well enough and that’s what’s gone wrong,” he told Sky Sports.

“We have to look at ourselves and believe in our qualities because if you look at our offensive numbers they are very positive in the league.

“We need to defend better and that’s why we’ve lost some big games. When I say defend better it’s not just the defenders it’s the team as a whole.”
