Gillingham have sacked their kit man Bob Lewin after he forgot to take the club’s away shirts for their match at MK Dons.
The Gills were forced to ask staff at the Dons to print names and numbers on the back of their training kit, before their shirts eventually arrived just 15 minutes before kick-off.
Lewin has now been axed by the League One side who have appointed his predecessor Malcolm Steadman to the role for the rest of the season.
“I would like to thank Bob for what he has done since he has been here,” Gillingham manager Adi Pennock said.
To compound Gillingham’s misery, they lost the game 3-2 leaving them perilously close to relegation to the fourth tier.
They now sit just one point above the League One drop zone with five matches of the campaign remaining.
