Young Lion Solanke’s Golden Ball puts him on list with Pogba, Messi and Maradona

Can life get any better for Dominic Solanke after he helped England U20s lift the World Cup in South Korea and then joined an incredible list of names including Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona as he was awarded the Golden Ball for the tournament.

Solanke was one of the star performers in the tournament after scoring four goals and played a major role in helping Paul Simpson’s side make it a day to remember following their 1-0 win over Venezuela in the final.

The 19-year-old was recognised for his superb efforts as he was handed the Golden Ball award following the game and was named the best player in the tournament.

Solanke is certainly among good company as Messi, Maradona, Luis Figo, Sergio Aguero and Paul Pogba have also got their hands on the Golden Ball.

Messi won the accolade back in 2005, while Aguero (2007) and Pogba (2013) have also picked up the prestigious award and have gone on to become superstars in the game.

The talented forward will know his summer cannot get any better after securing a big move to Liverpool before the tournament got underway and is now a World Cup winner.

Liverpool fans will certainly be excited to see the Solanke join up with the Reds next season and Jurgen Klopp has already showed in the past that he is willing to give youngsters a chance if they are good enough for the first-team.
